Information We Collect
Account information: your name, email address, and optional profile photo (avatar) used to create and identify your account.
App content you create: groups, friends, expenses, receipts, and the amounts and items you enter to split bills.
Receipt images: photos of receipts you choose to scan. Images are sent to our service to extract line items and are processed by a third-party AI provider.
Subscription information: your subscription status, product identifier, and expiration date, as provided by Apple. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
Technical data: basic request logs (such as timestamps and error information) used to operate and secure the service.
How We Use Your Information
To provide core features: creating groups, splitting bills, and tracking who owes whom.
To extract items from receipt images you scan.
To manage your subscription and enforce free vs. premium usage limits.
To maintain, secure, and improve the App.
Receipt Image Processing
When you scan a receipt, the image is transmitted to our backend and to a third-party AI provider (Google Gemini) solely to detect the items and amounts on the receipt. We do not use your receipt images for advertising.
Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us operate the App (such as our hosting provider and the AI provider used for receipt scanning), and only to the extent necessary to provide the service, or when required by law.
Data Retention
We retain your account and app content for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below.
Your Choices & Rights
You can edit or delete your groups, receipts, and profile information within the App.
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us.
You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your Apple ID settings.
Children’s Privacy
Bill Buds is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
